DCI Tournaments

The Duelists’ Convocation International is the competitive organization for collective card games players, especially Magic: the Gathering. National rankings are based on how you do in each sanctioned tournaments you enter. To play in a DCI sanctioned tournament you must have a DCI membership. Basic membership will be offered FREE at the Auction and Contest Registration table in Ballroom A. If you are already a DCI member, please bring your card with you. Memberships are easy to obtain at the convention; just stop by the Auction and Contest Registration Table anytime before your event, fill out the simple membership form, receive your DCI basic level member number, and you are ready to play. Even if you aren’t a member now, sign up for any DCI event that you like, we’ll remind you to get your membership while at the convention.

Everyone playing in a DCI tournament will have to sign in at the Auction and Contest Registration Table prior to playing a DCI event. You only need to sign in once. This process will ensure that you will get full credit for all of the DCI tournaments that you play in.

This year the Egyptian Campaign is offering many sanctioned card games. Card sleeves will be allowed, but players will NOT be required to remove them. Anyone playing in a sanctioned Magic: TG tournament must present the Judge with a complete card list including a separate sideboard list prior to the beginning of each tournament.

The Egyptian Campaign intends to abide by the most current DCI rules. Because DCI allows some optional rules, players should check the DCI site and question their judge before the contest begins.

Living Campaigns

One of the best features of being a RPGA member is the rare ability to make a character at home, bring it to a convention, and be able to actually advance the character through play at that and other conventions. Only certain RPGA events at Egyptian Campaign 2008 allow players to bring their own character; this is Living Greyhawk. Characters for these events must be created using strict guidelines and star as beginning characters. Rules and character sheets will be available at the Auction and Contest Registration Table in Ballroom A, and characters can be made anytime prior to the start of your event at the contest.

All characters, or any experience level, are subject to the approval of the GM and certificates for magic and special items will be required. Characters who earn experience in these games at Egyptian Campaign will be able to take that experience directly to the next game in which that character plays. It is possible that character will raise level if they play in the adventures offered. You cannot play in any RPGA adventure more than once.

RPGA Pick Up Event
If you find your schedule did not work out to play an individual RPGA event at a particular scheduled time, don’t despair. If there is an extra staff person available and willing, a pick up game will be held. For details ask the RPGA staff or at the ACR Table.
